Program
GT paralegals help our attorneys deliver cost-effective legal services to meet our clients’ changing needs. Our more than 300 paralegals work side by side with our attorneys on all phases of cases and transactions. That is why we seek out highly motivated individuals who bring an innovative, flexible approach to their work.
Hiring
We look for candidates who have not only strong academic credentials and excellent communication skills, but also a determination to get the job done right. A commitment to teamwork and mutual respect is also essential. Our paralegals do not view themselves simply as employees. Instead, they possess an owner’s mentality and a commitment to meeting our clients’ needs.
Training
We recruit paralegal talent at many levels and offer significant opportunities for career advancement. We provide training and mentoring to give you the tools you need to grow professionally. For new team members, we provide a two-day orientation session, as well as training specific to each practice group. We help you to get up to speed quickly on the firm’s culture, timekeeping system, expectations, firm resources and local practices and procedures.
But training doesn’t end there – it is an integral, ongoing part of what we do. Our monthly National Paralegal Meetings offer further opportunities to learn more about a wide variety of topics (and may qualify for CLE credit too). Paralegals often are also invited to GT’s legal seminars offered to associates through the Hoffman Professionalism Center.
Empowerment
Empowerment is the rock upon which we have built our culture. We provide paralegals with many technological and other resources to help them succeed. Collaboration between offices, practice areas and departments is a crucial part of our work.
Paralegals are sometimes called on to juggle numerous tasks, travel on short notice or work late into the night – especially during trials and transactional closings. Flexibility with respect to overtime is a must. But GT understands that the kind of innovative, talented people we seek out also have interests beyond the law. That is why we strive to create a healthy work-life balance – and offer opportunities to recharge your mental batteries and experience some personal, as well as professional, growth.
