New York State and City continue to increase their oversight of individuals and entities that directly or indirectly interact with government, and enforcement of lobbyist registration and disclosure laws that apply to them. This Program will review the New York State and New York City Lobbying laws:
- with an emphasis on who, and what activities, are covered by these laws;
- to address how “lawyering” may also be “lobbying”; and
- to summarize the disclosure obligations and corresponding restrictions imposed on individuals and entities that engage in lobbying.
The presentation will also include a discussion of the ordinances in the only other New York municipalities that currently regulate lobbying -- Nassau and Suffolk counties.
