The Next Generation of Cross Border Transfers: How the New Standard Contractual Clauses Will Change Contracting

GT’s Gretchen Ramos (Global Co-Chair, Data, Privacy & Cybersecurity Practice, SFO), David A. Zetoony (Co-Chair, U.S. Data, Privacy & Cybersecurity Practice, DEN), and Carsten Kociok (BLN) presented the webinar, “The Next Generation of Cross Border Transfers: How the New Standard Contractual Clauses Will Change Contracting,” on Tuesday, June 22 at 1 p.m. EST. Almost every company that transfers personal information out of Europe has relied upon the European commission’s standard contractual clauses as part of their compliance strategy. The current standard contractual clauses are being retired and replaced. This CLE program explained: the new clauses; the impact that the clause will have on companies that are using the old Standard Contractual Clauses; the practical steps that companies should take as a result of the change; and the relationship between the new clauses and the European Court of Justice’s decision in Schrems II and the EDPB’s Supplementary Transfer Measure Recommendations.
