Greenberg Traurig’s Christopher Neumann Confirmed to Colorado Solid and Hazardous Waste Commission

DENVER (April 11, 2014) – Chris Neumann, a shareholder in the Environmental practice at the international law firm Greenberg Traurig LLP, was recently confirmed by the Colorado Senate to serve another three-year term on its Colorado Solid and Hazardous Waste Commission. Neumann has served since 2005 and is the chairman of the commission.

“We are pleased that Chris was confirmed again to this very important commission,” says David G. Palmer, managing shareholder at Denver’s Greenberg Traurig Office. “Chris offers a wealth of insight into the challenges that industry faces in Colorado when it comes to solid and hazardous waste.”

Neumann counsels clients in the retail, natural gas, petroleum, construction, home building, solid and hazardous waste, and mining industries on a wide variety of litigation, environmental, natural resources, American Indian law, administrative, land use, and insurance coverage matters. Neumann is a civil engineer and a Certified Professional in Erosion and Sediment Control (CPESC). He frequently counsels clients on complex storm water compliance and enforcement matters.

According to the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment website, the Solid and Hazardous Waste Commission is comprised of nine gubernatorial appointees: three members from industry; three members from the public at large; and three members from government or academia. The commission is charged with promulgating and adopting rules pertaining to solid and hazardous waste; setting fees and issuing interpretive rules for hazardous waste; and hearing appeals of administrative law judge determinations regarding the amounts of administrative penalties for hazardous waste matters.
