Greenberg Traurig LLP's Daniel Smulian ascended the ranks at his firm representing medical device defendants in large-scale multidistrict litigation — most recently as a co-manager of C.R. Bard Inc.'s epically large pelvic mesh MDL involving some 13,000 cases — landing him among Law360’s top product liability attorneys under 40.
Smulian, one of five product liability attorneys on the Rising Stars list, was promoted to shareholder in February after starting at the firm out of law school in 2005, and has represented Bard in the pelvic mesh case since 2012. He entered the litigation while it was in its expert deposition phase in the run-up to its earliest bellwether trials, armed with experience representing device makers including Medtronic Inc. in product suits.
