NEW YORK – April 21, 2015 — Wendy Johnson Lario, shareholder and chair of the New Jersey Labor & Employment Practice at international law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP will be honored at the second Annual Lawyers for Tri-County Awards, an event that recognizes lawyers of outstanding achievement and leadership. The dinner, to be held Tuesday, April 21, at 6:30 p.m. at the Park Avenue Club in Florham Park, will benefit the Tri-County Scholarship Fund’s Freedom Scholars Program.

“We are exceptionally proud of Wendy for receiving this award,” said New Jersey office Co-Managing Shareholder Philip Sellinger. “She serves as an exemplary role model for youth specifically because of her commitment to equality, as well as her dedication to education as evidenced by her role on the Seton Hall University School of Law’s Board of Visitors.”

“I am so grateful to have received this honor,” said Johnson Lario. “Since 1981, 30,000 scholarships have been awarded by the Tri-County Scholarship Fund. I am proud to support a cause that promotes, at its core, that we must lift others as we climb.”

The Freedom Scholars Program is geared toward high school students throughout Northern and Central New Jersey with financial need and significant academic achievement and potential. It is a partnership between schools, families, and the Tri-County. It enables students to choose and attend high performing schools.

She appears regularly in federal and state courts in New Jersey and New York and defends employers against charges filed with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), the New Jersey Division on Civil Rights (NJDCR), and the New York Division of Human Rights (NYDHR). Johnson Lario also provides advice and training to management and in-house counsel on employment issues.
