Greenberg Traurig Attorney Nelson Migdal Authors Hospitality Industry Practical Guide

WASHINGTON – June 12, 2015 Nelson Migdal, shareholder and co-chair of the Hospitality Practice at international law firm Greenberg Traurig,LLP, authored the textbook, Hotel Law, Transactions, Management and Franchising, a practical guide to the issues that face lawyers and industry leaders working in the hospitality field. Routledge, the world’s leading academic publisher in the Humanities and Social Sciences, published the book, which was released May 22.

Hotel Law primarily serves as a desktop reference for legal practitioners working in the hotel law field; however, it is also suitable for students studying toward hotel and hospitality careers both at an undergraduate and law school or graduate level. Readers can glean insights into the industry players and their preferred positions, desired outcomes, and the potential pitfalls that can ensnare even the most well-planned deals.

“Specifically, Hotel Law will give readers an understanding of the hospitality industry from the perspective of the transactional practitioner, while examining the multi-party relationships and agreements that develop between an owner, operator, licensor, and lender,” said Migdal.

Migdal has focused his global practice on the hospitality industry for over 30 years. He assists clients with hotel acquisitions, operations, development, hotel related amenities such as gaming, hotel finance, and hotel management, franchise, and license agreements. He is a member of the International Society of Hospitality Consultants, President of the Academy of Hospitality Industry Attorneys, and Professor in Residence (Adjunct) at the Washington College of Law of American University in Washington, D.C.

Greenberg Traurig shareholder Tara K. Gorman and Washington College of Law Professor and Hotel and Tourism Law Director Steven Shapiro contributed to Migdal’s book. Gorman focuses her practice on hotel acquisitions, operations, development, and finance; general commercial real estate transactions, including commercial real estate acquisitions and sales; and office retail leasing.
