Greenberg Traurig Shareholder Alan Sheppard Jr. Appointed to NAIOP Research Foundation Board of Governors

ORLANDO, Fla. – Sept. 22, 2016 – Alan C. Sheppard Jr., a shareholder in the Orlando office of international law firm Greenberg Traurig, P.A., was recently appointed to the Board of Governors for the NAIOP Research Foundation. The NAIOP Research Foundation helps build better communities through practical research and education.

The Foundation’s research supports NAIOP, the Commercial Real Estate Development Association, which is the leading organization for developers, owners and investors of office, industrial, retail and mixed-use real estate. NAIOP comprises more than 18,000 members and provides strong advocacy, education and business opportunities through a powerful North American network.

The projects, educational programs and outreach activities of the Foundation have a united purpose: to support developers, owners and others involved in commercial real estate. Everyone involved in the work of the Foundation is a member of a community that is being shaped and created by commercial real estate development.

As a shareholder in the real estate department at Greenberg Traurig, Sheppard has wide-ranging experience in all areas of commercial real estate finance and development, as well as land use and zoning. He regularly counsels developers in the acquisition and development of real property for office, industrial, residential and mixed-use transactions. He also represents builders and developers of residential subdivisions and multi-family housing developments in the development and entitlement process.

In 2015, Sheppard served as the President of the Florida chapter of NAIOP, where he led the charge to provide legislative and governmental representation for its five member chapters throughout the state. He is a Past President of the Central Florida chapter of NAIOP, and he previously served as the NAIOP Florida President in 2004. Sheppard also is currently serving a three-year term on the National NAIOP Board of Directors.

Sheppard received his law degree from the University of Florida Levin College of Law and his bachelor's degree from Texas Christian University. Sheppard has a Master of Laws, in Taxation from the University of Alabama School of Law.
