Greenberg Traurig Co-Hosts CLE Webinar on Renewable Electricity and the Federal RFS

WASHINGTON – Oct. 5, 2018 — Global law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP Shareholder Bernadette M. Rappold will participate in an Oct. 10 webinar titled, “Renewable Electricity and the Federal RFS: A New Opportunity for Power Generators.” The complimentary webinar, co-hosted by the firm and the Biomass Power Association (BPA), will offer a one-hour, regulatory overview of the Renewable Fuels Standard (RFS) and the status of renewable electricity. Attendees will be eligible to receive 1.0 CLE credit.

Rappold will be joined by Bob Cleaves, President & CEO of BPA, and Randy Lack, Chief Marketing Officer of Element Markets, to discuss the hallmarks of a successful pathway petition and facility registration, as well as the opportunities for growth and monetization. Together they’ll explore some of the hot-button issues surrounding renewable electricity, including methods of tracking power from generation to transportation use.

Rappold focuses her practice on federal and state regulatory issues related to energy and the environment. She has substantial litigation experience and advises clients on regulatory compliance as well as the environmental, safety, and health aspects of numerous business and real estate transactions, including water, air, and chemical hazards. Rappold offers clients perspective gained through years of service at the Environmental Protection Agency. While serving as a director of the Special Litigation and Projects Division in the Office of Civil Enforcement at the EPA’s Office of Enforcement and Compliance Assurance, Rappold led complex enforcement actions in response to violations of the Clean Air Act, the Clean Water Act, the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act, and other environmental statutes.
