Four Greenberg Traurig Attorneys Named 2018 Most Effective Lawyers by the Daily Business Review

MIAMI – Nov. 9, 2018 – Four Greenberg Traurig, P.A. attorneys have been named 2018 Most Effective Lawyers by the Daily Business Review. In the category of Bankruptcy, Miami office Shareholder Paul J. Keenan Jr. and Of Counsel John R. Dodd received the distinction. In the Corporate and Securities category, Miami office Co-Managing Shareholder Jaret L. Davis and Shareholder Drew M. Altman were recognized.

The Most Effective Lawyer awards honors attorneys who have made stellar achievements for clients over the past year. Winners will be profiled in a Daily Business Review special report to be published next month.

Keenan and Dodd were honored for their work on the Chapter 11 bankruptcy cases filed on behalf of Optima Specialty Steel in December 2016, which was completed in September 2017. Optima was headquartered in Miami and a leading national manufacturer of specialty steel products. It had annual revenues of $600 million, employed more than 900 people in seven manufacturing facilities located across five states, and had more than 1,000 creditors. Due to the matter’s size and scope, it was considered one of the largest bankruptcies in 2017 for a Florida-based company. At risk were a substantial number of jobs and investments in an important industry.

Davis and Altman were honored for their representation of leading U.S. insulation distribution and installation company, TopBuild Corp., in its $475 million acquisition of one of the industry’s other top players, United Subcontractors, Inc., which closed May 1, 2018. To finance the deal, the attorneys also represented publicly-traded TopBuild in its offering of $400 million in aggregate principal amount of 5.625 percent Senior Notes due 2026 in a Rule 144A transaction to qualified institutional buyers, which closed on April 25, 2018.

“We congratulate, Paul, John, Jaret, and Drew for their extraordinary work in these matters on behalf of our clients,” said Yosbel A. Ibarra, co-managing shareholder of Greenberg Traurig’s Miami office. “They exemplify our lawyers’ reputation as trusted business advisors, who provide client service excellence and practical, business-oriented advice to clients on their most important matters.”
