Greenberg Traurig Attorneys to Participate in #YoungITATalks Series in Mexico City

MEXICO CITY – Jan. 30, 2019 — Global law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP shareholders Víctor Manuel Frías Garcés and Nicole Y. Silver will participate in the #YoungITATalks networking event, held Feb. 7, 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. in the firm’s Mexico City office. The event is presented by Young ITA, an arm of the Institute for Transnational Arbitration, and co-sponsored by Greenberg Traurig, JAMS, Equal Representation in Arbitration Pledge, and BMA.

#YoungITATalks is a series of international arbitration programs and events for young practitioners under 40 in cities throughout North America. The Mexico City program will provide an in-depth look at current trends in international arbitration particularly related to Latin America. It will focus on and compare different approaches taken by Latin American governments with respect to investment disputes, and will further assess which approaches are more desirable and yield better results.

Frías focuses his practice on business and competition law, including mergers and acquisitions. He has been recognized as one of the key competition and antitrust lawyers in Mexico by Chambers Latin America. He has also represented clients in numerous investigations carried out by the Competition Commission. Notably in 2015, Frías led the team that obtained the highest award ever against the Mexican state-owned oil company.

Silver focuses her practice on international arbitration and litigation. She advises Sovereign States and private clients in international arbitration proceedings, including arbitrations before the International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID) and the Permanent Court of Arbitration (PCA) under the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law (UNCITRAL) Arbitration Rules, in a wide array of sectors, including energy, infrastructure, telecommunications, and the environment.
