Greenberg Traurig Furthers its Commitment to Poland Announces Recurve Base in Warsaw

WARSAW – Oct. 17, 2019 – Furthering its commitment to Poland, global law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP has created a base in Warsaw for its most innovative alternative legal services venture to date, "Recurve."

“Warsaw holds big opportunities for us and our clients. Given our strong and decades-long top tier standing in the market, and the convenient, low cost, and business-friendly environment and excellent talent pool, it made sense to establish a key base for Recurve there. We are known for successfully entering markets in and out of the U.S. which other international firms may have ignored due to their market economics or size, or where they have survived only by utilizing the verein or network structure,” said Greenberg Traurig Executive Chairman Richard A. Rosenbaum. “Greenberg Traurig is the one unified international law firm which has continuously thrived as a market leader here and in similar local markets. Where it makes sense, Warsaw is also an ideal place to center future global operations, as we have now announced with the Recurve entity, and where Jarosław Grzesiak, our Warsaw Managing Partner, is playing a key global role.”

Recurve, a separate entity from the firm, offers a new concept and platform for global shared-services to facilitate collaboration among clients, legal advisors, and tech; as well as staffing, space, and other innovators to foster creative solutions, efficiency, and value in the delivery of ancillary legal services.

“Our Warsaw office is long known for its leadership in the market, with its core partners practicing continuously since 1990 and recognized as senior market luminaries, and today it stands as top tier in a broad range of practice areas. We are firmly committed to continued growth amid the current market disruption, even as we continue to lead in such diverse areas as corporate and M&A, private equity, real estate, capital markets, banking and finance, litigation, and restructuring,” Rosenbaum said. “But for law firm managers who sit in London, New York, Washington, D.C., or other major cities, it may be difficult to understand the strong market dynamics and future of the Polish market. By spending a great deal of time here personally, including my intention to use Warsaw as my non-U.S. base of operations, I have seen firsthand the work ethic, commitment to excellence, and entrepreneurial mindset of our lawyers and staff and the Polish business community. People here are about excellence, and when they are respected, empowered, and allowed to operate in a manner that makes business sense locally, success follows.”

“It is extremely rare and very motivational to enjoy the sincere support of a large, highly regarded global law firm while being empowered locally to best address the needs of our client base. We are uber focused on innovation that makes sense and allows lawyers to be lawyers,” Grzesiak said.

“We are proud of what we have been able to achieve as an office, and specifically our top tier and fast-growing real estate team. The combination of a high level and broad global platform, including our top real estate practice in the U.S., with empowerment of Warsaw shareholders to do all that is necessary to win on the ground, is unmatched, and I am excited to be part of it,” said Jolanta Nowakowska-Zimoch, head of the 40-plus attorney Real Estate Practice in the firm’s Warsaw office, and who was selected as the Gender Diversity Lawyer of the Year for Central & Eastern Europe at the inaugural Chambers Diversity & Inclusion Awards: Europe recently held in Amsterdam. She also recently received Best in Real Estate (Individual Award Received by Nowakowska-Zimoch) from Euromoney at the Europe Women in Business Law Awards in 2019.
