Greenberg Traurig Participates in ASU Diversity Legal Writing Program

PHOENIX—Feb. 20, 2019—In collaboration with Arizona State University (ASU), global law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP’s Phoenix office is participating in the ASU Diversity Legal Writing program. The goal of the 12-week program is to broaden learning opportunities for ASU law students who self-identify as members of minority groups that are traditionally underrepresented in the legal profession.

“We are excited to collaborate with ASU on this outstanding program,” said Shareholder Karl A. Freeburg, who is leading the program for Greenberg Traurig.

Through the program, students have the opportunity to strengthen their legal writing and research skills, experience private law firm environments, and develop relationships with Phoenix attorneys. Greenberg Traurig provides funds that are used as a scholarship for its participating student.

This year, Greenberg Traurig is hosting Jorge Coss, who attends ASU’s Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law as an O’Connor Fellow. Coss graduated with a B.A. in political science from Arizona State University, where he was selected as an “Outstanding Undergraduate of 2017.” During his undergraduate career, Coss—a first-generation Mexican-American—participated in research aimed at improving retention and academic performance for minority and low-income students at ASU and higher educational institutions.

“I’m thrilled to participate in this program and grateful both to Greenberg Traurig and ASU for the opportunity,” said Coss.
