MIAMI – Jan. 11, 2021 – Global law firm Greenberg Traurig, P.A. has added veteran litigator Alexandra Bach Lagos as a shareholder with the Products Liability & Mass Torts team in Miami and the national Pharmaceutical, Medical Device and Health Care Litigation group. A former partner with Shook, Hardy & Bacon in Miami, Bach Lagos will focus her practice on products liability and mass torts, including bet-the-company litigation for domestic and international pharmaceutical companies and medical device manufacturers.
Lagos’ arrival at Greenberg Traurig follows that of Shareholders Enjoliqué Aytch Lett and Rebecca A. Ocariz, and Associate Akiesha Gilcrist Sainvil, who joined the firm’s Miami Products Liability Practice over the last year. The practice, which is undergoing significant expansion, is led in Miami by Shareholder Sabrina R. Gallo.

Bach Lagos has represented cigarette manufacturers in thousands of smoking and health cases known as the “Engle progeny lawsuits” pending for the last decade in Florida’s state and federal courts. She has been involved in all phases of that litigation, including case strategy, written discovery, depositions, expert witness preparation, motion practice, trials, and appeals.

During her career, Bach Lagos has litigated dozens of federal and state jury trials, all of which involved claims for punitive damages. She routinely argues significant motions in courts across the state and has also briefed and argued cases in Florida’s appellate courts.

Bach Lagos is a past president of the Miami-Dade Chapter of the Florida Association for Women Lawyers (FAWL), the largest bar association for women lawyers in South Florida. She uses her platform as a former bar association president and first-generation American to advocate for greater diversity in the legal profession, often lecturing – in both English and Spanish – about the value of diversity in the law. Bach Lagos is also active within The Florida Bar. She is a graduate of The Florida Bar’s Leadership Academy and was appointed to and served on the Judicial Nominating Procedures and Technology committees.
Bach Lagos also maintains an active pro bono practice, representing children in immigration proceedings and as a guardian ad litem.
“As a first generation American, immigration issues affecting children resonate with me on a personal level,” Bach Lagos said. “I have focused my pro bono work on helping children because I feel that they are especially at risk when it comes to access to protection and justice.”
Bach Lagos received her J.D. from the University of Miami School of Law and a B.A. from Smith College.
