Loring I. Fenton has a broad general commercial litigation practice with a focus on products liability, toxic tort, negligence, and insurance law. With wide-ranging experience in all phases of litigation, from complaint through trial and appeal, he concentrates his practice in the defense of complex, high exposure cases.

Loring's experience includes food-borne personal injury litigation, motor vehicle personal injury litigation, personal injury litigation under the New York Labor Law, asbestos litigation, toxic tort litigation, medical device, and pharmaceutical products liability litigation, and several consumer products cases, including automotive litigation. He also handles insurance coverage, indemnity, corporate disregard, and successor liability issues in the context of sophisticated corporate transactions.

  • Defended a manufacturer and distributor of an exterior siding material (and its parent, a multinational corporation) in class action lawsuits brought in several state and federal courts.
  • Served as national coordinating and trial counsel for another multinational corporation, resolving hundreds of claims involving a different building material, including a defense verdict against a major home builder in a case involving thousands of homes in several states.
  • Served as national coordinating and lead trial counsel for a major film studio and subsidiary in silica litigation across the country.
  • Represented a U.K. cosmetic machinery and equipment manufacturer in personal injury actions in federal and state courts.
  • Served as special litigation counsel for a specialty coffee company in Chapter 11, handling various real estate disputes and shareholder litigation.
