Kent Love focuses his practice in the areas of commercial litigation and bankruptcy. He regularly represents clients in state court, federal court, bankruptcy court, in arbitrations, and on appeal. Kent has handled all aspects of litigation, including taking and defending depositions, arguing dispositive motions, preparing witnesses for trial, and representing clients at trial. Kent’s commercial litigation experience covers cases involving breach of contract, misappropriation of trade secrets, labor and employment, breach of fiduciary duty, breach of covenants not to compete, fraud, deceptive trade practices, shareholder disputes, tortious interference, conspiracy, landlord-tenant disputes, antitrust, construction, and energy litigation. In bankruptcy matters, Kent has represented debtors, creditors, and trustees. He has significant experience in litigation involving fraudulent and preferential transfers.

  • Secured temporary restraining order and temporary injunction in case involving breach of non-compete and non-solicitation agreement, breach of fiduciary duty, and misappropriation of trade secrets, leading to favorable settlement for national mortgage lender.°
  • Represented trustee as lead counsel in ten adversary proceedings seeking the avoidance and recovery of fraudulent and preferential transfers.°
  • Successfully represented former officers and directors of large nonprofit think tank who were sued for over $15 million for breach of fiduciary duty, settling case for nuisance value following removal of case from state court to bankruptcy court.°
  • Successfully represented Texas bank on appeal from lower court’s decision regarding amount of bank’s claim against borrower.°
  • Secured temporary restraining order and preliminary injunction in case involving breach of non-compete and non-solicitation agreement and misappropriation of trade secrets, leading to settlement for large signage company.°
  • Represented restaurant chain in several landlord-tenant disputes throughout Texas.°
  • Obtained settlement for former CEO of international education company in case alleging wrongful termination and defamation.°
  • Successfully represented multiple clients in defense of lawsuits seeking recovery of preferential transfers, obtaining full dismissals or settlements in every case.°
  • Represented restaurant owner in complex construction defect case against general contractor and several subcontractors.°
  • Obtained settlement for client after defeating application for temporary restraining order in fraudulent transfer case.°
