Steve Shapiro focuses his practice on the representation of New York City developers and institutions in the acquisition and sale of real property. He provides counsel with respect to obtaining acquisition, construction and permanent financing, including construction financing under the New York State Housing Finance Agency's 80/20 Program which provides tax-exempt bond financing for multifamily rental developments with an affordable housing component.

  • Representation of MetLife, Inc. in the sale of Peter Cooper Village and Stuyvesant Town to Tishman Speyer, in a joint venture with BlackRock Realty, the real estate arm of BlackRock, Inc., for $5.4 billion. The transaction is considered the biggest American real estate deal in history.
