City & State’s Urban Development Summit

Ed Wallace spoke at City & State's Urban Development Summit on a panel entitled "The Future of Housing Development in New York" addressing questions such as "How do we build new developments, and reinvigorate neighborhoods in the outer boroughs through affordable housing options, without 'gentrifying' the area and displacing the original population? How can we balance new development to address the housing crisis with the effort to preserve historically relevant landmarks and districts in New York?  How can we create opportunities for New York City’s neighborhoods to build a permanent, alternative market of affordable homes for ownership?"

The rest of the panel included:

  • Ben Adler, Senior Editor, City & State NY (moderator)
  • Nicole Ferreira, Senior Vice President of Multifamily Finance, New York State Homes and Community Renewal
  • Molly Park, Deputy Commissioner for Development, Commissioner, NYC Department of Housing Preservation & Development
  • Council Member Robert E. Cornegy, Jr., Chair, Housing and Buildings
  • Paula Roy Carethers, Executive Vice President for Real Estate, New York City Housing Development Corporation

City & State’s Urban Development Summit brought together 200+ housing, development and infrastructure professionals from across the state, including elected officials, real estate developers, engineers, construction managers, and innovators from both the public and private sectors. This forum addressed current trends, big projects, and major issues in an effort to expand and grow local neighborhoods and the overall economy.
