Greenberg Traurig’s Legal Professionals Turn Rockstars at Law Rocks! Concert to Support East Harlem Tutorial Program

NEW YORK – Dec. 8, 2014 – The New York office of international law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP is one of the sponsors of the Law Rocks! concert Thursday, Dec. 11, at Gramercy Theatre. Greenberg Traurig’s house band, The Meltones, will battle five other law firm bands to raise money for nonprofits in New York City. Greenberg Traurig is playing in support of the East Harlem Tutorial Program (EHTP).

The mission of Law Rocks! is “to benefit amazing local nonprofit organizations in cities across the country through our epic fundraising concerts, which star competing bands of talented legal professionals-turned-rockstars.”

“This is an amazing event that brings awareness to nonprofits in a unique way,” said Stephen Rabinowitz, co-managing shareholder of the New York office and lead guitarist for The Meltones. “The ability to fundraise through music draws attention to worthwhile causes and I couldn’t be more excited that Greenberg Traurig is participating in an event that will raise money for the East Harlem Tutorial Program, an organization that personally means a great deal to me.”

Rabinowitz serves as the secretary and member of the board of trustees of the East Harlem Tutorial Program. EHTP “prepares students with the academic skills, strength of character and emotional well-being to excel in high school and college, to lead in their communities and to realize their best possible selves.”

The Meltones band members include Stephen Rabinowitz; Joseph Gangitano, New York Corporate & Securities associate; Daniel Blumberg, New York Entertainment associate; Burt Bruton, Miami Real Estate shareholder; Christopher Cernik, Albany Government Law & Policy shareholder; and Tracy Newirth, practice development coordinator.

The Meltones, named after one of the firm’s founders, Mel Greenberg, has been the Greenberg Traurig “house band” since the mid-80s. The members have changed over the years and the band has performed at various firm events.
