Greenberg Traurig’s Marc Trachtenberg to Speak at INTA’s Internet, Innovation and ICANN Conference

CHICAGO (Sept. 17, 2014)Marc H. Trachtenberg, a shareholder in the Chicago office of the international law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP, will be speaking at the upcoming International Trademark Association’s (INTA) conference Thursday, Sept. 18, 2014. This year’s conference, titled “Internet, Innovation and ICANN: The Evolving Landscape of the Net,” will take place in San Francisco, California.

Trachtenberg will serve on a panel titled “Internet Innovation.” The panel will discuss how the Internet is impacting innovation and changing the way we interact with each other and the world around us. Trachtenberg will specifically discuss 3D printing, including its impact on the marketplace and related intellectual property issues.

According to the conference website,  INTA brings togetherdistinguished leaders of the trademark community, Internet experts and high-level government officials to speak on a wide range of topics, including cloud-based storage; the government’s role in the Internet’s Domain Name System (DNS); effective management of social media interactions; changes to the WHOIS domain name directory system; internet intermediary liability regarding online sales; new gTLDs and rights protection mechanisms (RPMs); and what brands can do to ensure their security and re-establish trust with their consumers.

He has actively participated in the development of Internet policy and governance for more than 10 years, focusing on the protection of intellectual property online, and in particular with respect to new gTLDs. As an entrepreneur, Trachtenberg is actively involved in several start-up ventures, technology and otherwise, including a software application that he developed that monitors social media for unauthorized use of brands.
