Clients prompt lawyers to close boutique, join Greenberg Traurig (subscription)

As businesses continue to drag a fine-toothed comb through their legal budgets, there's no longer a niche in the marketplace "for small boutique firm with a Fortune 100 clientele," according to Pete S. Michaels.

The Boston attorney says that's why Michaels, Ward & Rabinovitz is closing down and its five lawyers are joining mega-firm Greenberg Traurig, effective today (June 1), in a move that boosts the number of securities litigators at Greenberg's Boston office from two to seven. There are now about 70 lawyers in the firm's Boston office overall.
