Greenberg Traurig Miami Attorneys Assist OKO Group with Financing of Edgewater Property

MIAMI – Dec. 1, 2016 – Steve Bassin, a shareholder in the Miami Real Estate practice of international law firm Greenberg Traurig, P.A., recently assisted OKO Group and its partner Cain Hoy Enterprises with the financing and tax related issues surrounding the purchase of a two-acre parcel along Biscayne Bay in Miami’s waterfront Edgewater neighborhood.

OKO Group and Cain Hoy Enterprises purchased the parcel that includes 475 feet of Biscayne Bay waterfront property, on a rare corner lot that is surrounded by water on two sides. The property provides a prime development opportunity for the two partners in one of South Florida’s most exciting up-and-coming neighborhoods. OKO Group and Cain Hoy Enterprises bought the Edgewater property for $54 million from Jesuit Fathers of the Province of the Antilles, a Jesuit group that had used the site for educational purposes and a retreat. Plans for the 720 N.E. 27th Street property will be announced at a later date.

Bassin led the team that also included Miami Land Development and Zoning Shareholder Carlos R. Lago, who advised the joint venture on the land use development potential for the site under existing government regulations. Other team members included Associates Brian A. Dombrowski and Bryan Saul.

“We are excited to have assisted our client with this transaction in a short time frame,” Bassin said. “We look forward to seeing the impact this project will have on transforming this uniquely positioned site in the up-and-coming Edgewater neighborhood. This site is a real gem located in great proximity to the booming Design District and Wynwood neighborhoods.
