Greenberg Traurig’s Kerri L. Barsh Speaks at the Dade County Bar Association’s Environmental & Land Use Law Committee’s CLE Seminar

MIAMI – Nov. 21, 2018 – Greenberg Traurig, P.A. Miami Shareholder Kerri L. Barsh spoke at the Dade County Bar Association’s Environmental & Land Use Law Committee’s CLE Seminar, “The Case for Action: What are the Government’s and Developer’s Responses to Sea Level Rise” that was held Nov. 15.

The seminar focused on ways the public sector is moving beyond planning to taking steps to address sea level rise, as well as the economic factors that come into play in the private sector.

Barsh’s presentation titled, “Legal Conflicts: Where Is It Going to Get Rocky?” highlighted the legal profession’s role in the climate change disputes, and identified cases of interest and the various types of climate change litigation that legal professionals should be prepared to encounter. Barsh also addressed the opportunities and challenges for adaptation.

The discussion was moderated by Erin L. Deady, Environmental Attorney. Other speakers included James Murley, Chief Resilience Officer, Miami-Dade County; Eric Carpenter, Assistant City Manager, City of Miami Beach; and Wayne Pathman, Environmental and Land Use Lawyer and Chair of the City of Miami Sea Level Rise Committee.

Barsh, who is co-chair of Greenberg Traurig’s Environmental Practice, represents public and private clients on an array of environmental regulatory, permitting and litigation matters, including transactional support and due diligence, environmental assessment and liability matters, climate change, energy and infrastructure projects, wetlands and coastal permitting, complex land use projects, air quality matters, hazardous materials contamination, and other compliance and enforcement cases.
