Two Greenberg Traurig Attorneys Receive 2018 ABA On the Rise Awards

NEW YORK – June 29, 2018 – Greenberg Traurig, LLP attorneys  Natassia Kwan and James O. Lang were recognized by the American Bar Association with the “On the Rise – Top 40 Young Lawyers” award for 2018. Presented annually by the ABA Young Lawyers Division, the award recognizes 40 exceptional ABA young lawyer members who exemplify “high achievement, innovation, vision, leadership and legal and community service.”

Natassia is an associate in Greenberg Traurig’s San Francisco office and a member of the firm’s Litigation Practice. She focuses on defending companies against individual and class action claims in product liability, medical device, and pharmaceutical cases. Natassia practices in both state and federal courts, including multidistrict litigation, and has experience with appeals, expert discovery, depositions, and settlements in individual and mass tort cases.

Natassia is an active member of the ABA Section of Litigation, selected as one of four lawyers nationally for the ABA’s Young Lawyer Leadership Program. She also serves on the ABA Mass Torts Committee as Co-Chair of the Young Lawyers Subcommittee. From 2015-2017, she served as the National Mentoring Co-Chair of the Judicial Internship Opportunity Program. In addition, Natassia is a member of the Ambassador’s Council of the California Minority Counsel Program.

Jim is a shareholder in Greenberg Traurig’s Tampa office and a member of the firm’s Tax Practice. He focuses his tax incentive, tax credit, and project finance practice on helping clients to access current tax advantaged and incentive programs, including the emerging Qualified Opportunity Fund financing structuring created in the recent Tax Cuts and Jobs Act.  Jim represents investors, funds, fund managers, lenders, community development entities, and for-profit and not-for-profit projects in complex transactions where capital stacks require enhancement through incentive financing, including state and federal new markets tax credits, affordable housing and low-income housing tax credits, historic rehabilitation tax credits, renewable energy tax credits, and film and entertainment tax credits.

 

Jim also serves as Chair of the Tampa Hillsborough Economic Development Corporation’s International Committee and is a member of the Board of Directors of Junior Achievement of Tampa Bay.
