ATLANTA – Nov. 7, 2019 – Global law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP Shareholder Jeffrey M. Smith co-authored the Field & Smith book, "Legal Opinions in Business Transactions, Fourth Edition," published by the American Bar Association.
The three-volume treatise, co-authored by Smith and Arthur Norman Field, serves as guidance for attorneys who prepare and receive third-party opinion letters and includes familiar and more specialized opinion forms, risk analyses, and national bar reports.
According to the ABA, the treatise continues its role as “a clear and accessible working tool for transaction attorneys” and is updated to reflect recent cases and changes in opinion practice, new bar opinion reports, and insurance and risk management trends.
Smith resides in the firm's Atlanta office and represents publicly-traded companies headquartered in China and high-profile entertainers and entertainment companies, including casinos, themed restaurants, hotels, computer-game companies, record companies, and publishing companies in various securities, trademark-licensing, and other financial transactions.
Smith has received numerous recognitions for his work, including by The Best Lawyers in America for both the Legal Malpractice–Plaintiffs and Legal Malpractice–Defendants categories. He is also listed in Who's Who in American Law, Georgia Super Lawyers, and Georgia Trend "Legal Elite."
Smith also co-authored for 30 years the five-volume treatise "Mallen & Smith, Legal Malpractice", which focuses on prevention, insurance, and malpractice issues encountered by attorneys in most areas of the law.
