SAN FRANCISCO – Dec. 20, 2019 – Global law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP expanded its Data, Privacy & Cybersecurity Practice with the addition of Darren J. Abernethy as of counsel. Abernethy, who joins after serving as senior counsel for San Francisco-based privacy compliance technology company TrustArc, Inc., is a data privacy attorney with more than a decade of experience, including in private practice in Washington, D.C. and as in-house counsel.
Abernethy, who also joins the firm’s Intellectual Property & Technology Practice, advises clients on matters related to advertising technology, privacy and data governance, and FTC best practices. He focuses on the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), the European Union General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)/ePrivacy, digital advertising, direct marketing, and product counseling.

He earned a J.D. from the College of William and Mary’s Marshall-Wythe School of Law, and a B.A., magna cum laude, from Duke University.
