Scott Bornstein and Barry Schindler Speak at 16th Annual Summit on Protecting Innovations in the Financial Services Industry

NEW York – July 24, 2019 – Global law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP is a sponsor of the 16th Annual Summit on Protecting Innovations in the Financial Services Industry July 24-25 in New York. The summit will focus on the recent intellectual property (IP) and patent trends impacting the financial services industry, provide updates on FinTech and emerging financial innovations, and analyze the underlying IP issues involved with these disruptive technologies.

Shareholders Scott J. Bornstein and Barry J. Schindler are speakers at this year’s summit. On July 24th, Schindler will lead a roundtable discussion, “Apply Machine Learning in the Financial Services Sector.” Bornstein will moderate the “Views from the Bench: Current Trends at the District Courts” panel July 25, which will offer perspectives from District Court Judges about the year’s top issues and discuss the rationale behind the recent decisions.

Bornstein, co-chair of the firm's Global Intellectual Property & Technology Practice and co-chair of the firm's Global Patent Litigation Group, has wide-ranging patent trial experience and has served as lead counsel in more than 100 patent litigations. Bornstein has broad experience in patent, trademark, and copyright litigation, inter partes review proceedings, ITC litigation, licensing, and general IP counseling for an expansive variety of national and international clients. He also has broad experience working with clients to develop tailored prosecution and enforcement strategies that support their business objectives.

Schindler, chair of the firm’s Global Patent Prosecution Group, has more than 25 years of legal experience in virtually all aspects of  patent prosecution. He has helped companies of all sizes build and manage large patent portfolios, develop in-house procedures, and formulate intellectual property strategies. Schindler has also worked in numerous patent litigations to develop an overall case strategy that involves complementing a litigation strategy with actions at the USPTO. He has been involved in dozens of reexamination proceedings and over 50 IPR proceedings at the USPTO.
