Iris Escarra and Michele L. Stocker Receive South Florida Business & Wealth Prestigious Women Award

MIAMI and FORT LAUDERDALE – Sept. 10, 2020Iris Escarra and Michele L. Stocker, shareholders at global law firm Greenberg Traurig, P.A., have been honored by South Florida Business & Wealth (SFBW) as recipients of the publication’s first annual Prestigious Women Awards. Their achievements will be celebrated, along with those of all honorees, at a live cocktail reception to be held in 2021.

The Prestigious Women Awards recognizes top leaders in Miami-Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach counties who have created business success stories and provided leadership to women and the broader community, according to SFBW. The awards are given based on nominations by the public and SFBW staff research.

“I am honored to receive one of the first Prestigious Women Awards,” said Escarra, co-chair of Greenberg Traurig’s Miami Land Development and Zoning Practice. “Throughout my career, one of the greatest gifts I have received is the opportunity to be mentored by exceptional women leaders and – in turn - to mentor women who are up and coming leaders. I look forward to continuing this tradition that has resulted in success for so many women leaders in South Florida.”

At Greenberg Traurig’s Miami office, Escarra practices land use, zoning, and procurement law, and is certified by the Florida Bar as an expert in city, county, and local government law. She represents land owners and developers in every phase of a property's development and operation, including conducting due diligence regarding the property's development potential, obtaining all local and state entitlements for new construction, redevelopment, and the introduction of new uses or the preservation of existing uses.

Stocker is a commercial litigator in Greenberg Traurig’s Fort Lauderdale office who has a broad range of experience representing clients in the financial services industry including regional and national banks, loan servicers, consumer finance companies, mortgage bankers, credit card issuers, debt buyers, and third-party debt collectors.

“South Florida has long benefited from the business and leadership skills of many talented women, so it is very rewarding to be recognized in a celebration of these achievements” said Stocker, co-chair of Greenberg Traurig’s Consumer Financial Services Litigation Practice. “I look forward to continuing to play a key role in our region’s success by also devoting my time outside of work to making a difference in the local community.”
