Greenberg Traurig’s Timothy Long & Philip Person Participate in PLI’s Cutting-Edge Employment Law Issues 2020: The California Difference Webinar

SACRAMENTO – Sept. 21, 2020 – Shareholders Timothy Long and Philip Person of global law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP will participate in Practising Law Institute’s (PLI) Cutting-Edge Employment Law Issues 2020: The California Difference webinar, Sept. 23.

Hosted by PLI, and co-chaired by Long, the full-day event addresses the issues confronted by employment law advisers, litigators, and human resources management and professionals, with particular emphasis on California State law considerations. This year's program will address the impacts of COVID-19 on employment law issues in California. The program combines a comprehensive review of case law and regulatory developments; an in-depth analysis of emerging issues; and practical guidance related to best practices to maximize employment law compliance, mitigate legal risk, and achieve business objectives. Long and Person will address issues facing companies in California, including: dealing with claims that may arise as a result of the shutdown; issues that should be on every employer’s checklist when reopening or preparing to reopen; and planning for additional waves of closing and reopening. Long will participate in both opening remarks and the panel titled, “Year in Review/Hot Topics.” Person will participate in the panel titled, “COVID-19: Lessons About Ethical Behavior.”

Long, who routinely co-chairs the annual program, leads the Sacramento office’s Labor & Employment Practice and splits his time between the firm’s Sacramento and Los Angeles offices. He has deep experience litigating complex labor and employment issues, having served as lead counsel in multiple class, collective, and representative actions and advising on dozens more. Long’s clients have included a variety of financial institutions and entities, entities in the entertainment sector, health care related entities, airlines, retailers, high-tech companies, and transportation and logistics companies.

Person, a shareholder in the firm’s San Francisco Labor & Employment Practice, focuses on representing employers in wrongful termination, harassment, discrimination, retaliation, wage and hour, trade secret misappropriation, non-competition, non-solicitation, and whistleblower claims. He also represents employers in labor and employment arbitrations.
