2020 NALP/ALFDP Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Summit

Join Debra Sydnor, Greenberg Traurig's Director of Diversity and Inclusion, virtually at the NALP/ALFDP DEI Summit!

The 2020 NALP/ALFDP Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Summit comes at a significant time in our country’s history. The world irrevocably changed in late May with the death of George Floyd, the civil unrest that followed, and the continuing impact of the legal profession’s need to grapple with prejudice, racial injustice and anti-Black bias. You will want to join your colleagues for this online forum to discuss these important issues and reflect on other topics related to race relations in our country and their impact on the legal profession.

In response to the events of this summer, NALP and ALFDP issued statements and calls to action (see NALP Joins Its Members in Fighting Racism and ALFDP Statement on Racism in America).  NALP members are in a unique position to help their institutions make real change to ensure that law schools, law firms, and other legal employers and organizations become truly inclusive.  We must redouble our efforts to provide greater access, support, and development opportunities for law students and lawyers of color, and in particular we must commit to greater efforts to support and promote the careers of Black law students and lawyers. The DE&I Summit is an important part of our commitment to promote vital conversations about diversity and equity in order to impact change in the profession.

Conference highlights will include:
•    Keynote addresses by Michelle Silverthorn and Arin Reeves
•    Live Q&A with Michelle and Arin after their sessions
•    Roundtable discussions with your peers about important DE&I issues
•    Networking time for meeting other DE&I professionals and discussing best practices and other matters
•    And much more!

The 2020 NALP/ALFDP Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Summit will bring together NALP and ALFDP members, law firm partners, in-house lawyers, career counselors, legal hiring and training professionals, law school deans, industry consultants, and other legal career professionals who have an interest in continuing to expand diversity, equity and inclusion in the legal profession. The chief purpose of this important conference is to provide a forum for a robust exchange of information about the current challenges and innovations surrounding the issues of diversity and inclusion in the legal employment arena. Participants will also enjoy multiple networking opportunities, providing occasions to connect and share best practices.
