Israeli company picks Philadelphia for U.S. headquarters

Mayor Michael Nutter's trade mission to Israel last year is already paying dividends. One Israeli company said it will open its U.S. headquarters in the Philadelphia region and two more are seriously considering it.

Eleven Israeli companies, in the health care or tech industries, came to Philadelphia this week for a two-day symposium where they scouted the city, met with potential investors, collaborators and clients. Some will stay to attend the IMPACT Capital Conference.

"If we get three or four of these companies to locate here, we would consider it a success," said Luke Butler, chief of staff for Deputy Mayor for Economic Development Alan Greenberger. Butler attended an event Tuesday hosted by the Greenberg Traurig law firm where Nutter made a quick appearance to greet the visiting Israelis and potential local investors.
