FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – (May 12, 2014) – Michele L. Stocker, a Shareholder and the Chair of the national Financial Services Litigation Practice at the Fort Lauderdale, Fla., office of international law firm Greenberg Traurig, P.A., was honored by the Boys & Girls Clubs of Broward County as one of the “100 Outstanding Women of Broward County.” Stocker was recognized along with other honorees at a cocktail event celebrating how far women have come in leadership roles in the business, community and philanthropic fields.
“I am honored to receive this recognition and grateful for the opportunity to participate in an event that benefits the Boys & Girls Clubs of Broward County, an organization that is making a very meaningful difference in our community,” said Stocker.
As a commercial litigator at Greenberg Traurig, Stocker represents clients in the financial services industry, including local and national banks, consumer finance companies, mortgage bankers, credit card companies, and third-party debt collectors. She also regularly advises clients in employment-related matters involving discrimination, harassment, severance agreements, restrictive covenants, and wage and hour issues.
Her professional and community involvement includes: Board of Governors Member, Museum of Art Fort Lauderdale - Nova Southeastern University; Member, American Bar Association, Business Law Section, Consumer Financial Services Committee; Member, National Bar Association; Board Member, Intercoastal Division, Children's Home Society of Florida; and Board Member/ Vice Chair, Crockett Foundation.
Throughout her career, Stocker has been presented with numerous awards and accolades. Stocker is a frequent speaker on regulatory issues in the financial services industry and on women’s issues. Stocker received a law degree in 1990 from Columbia Law School, where she was a Harlan Fiske Stone Scholar, and received a bachelor’s degree, cum laude, in 1987 from Princeton University.
