Four Attorneys from Business Immigration & Compliance Practice to be Moderators, Panelists
NEWPORT BEACH, CA (June 24, 2014) – The international law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP will sponsor and co-chair the third annual Southern California EB-5 Conference at the Balboa Bay Club & Resort in Newport Beach, California. The all-day conference will take place on July 21, 2014 from 8:30 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. In addition, Laura Reiff, Kate Kalmykov, Ali Brodie and Jennifer Hermansky from the firm’s EB-5 group will serve as moderators or panelists.
According to the organization’s website, the 2014 Southern California EB-5 Conference will feature several panels addressing the latest developments of the EB-5 Program lead by industry leaders from regional centers, immigration and securities law firms, and leading EB-5 economists, among others. U.S. Congressman Bob Goodlatte, Chairman of the House Judiciary Committee with legislative oversight on the EB-5 visa program, will serve as keynote speaker. U.S. Congressman Darrell Issa will additionally discuss the EB-5 program and his proposed SKILLS Visa Act. The conference is designed in manner to equally provide a wide-range of EB-5 related topics to those who are new to the industry or well-versed.

Reiff will serve as a moderator for the “EB-5 Reform: Impacts of Proposed Legislation” panel, which includes Congressman Darrell Issa, House Oversight and Government Committee Chairman, as a panelist. Reiff is co-chair of the Business Immigration & Compliance practice and is an active leader in immigration reform. She focuses her practice on business immigration laws and regulations affecting U.S. and foreign companies, as well as related employment compliance and legislative issues.
Kalmykov will be a panelist on the “EB-5 Financing for Hotel Developers” panel as well as moderator for the “Introduction to EB-5 Marketing Overseas” panel. Kalmykov is a shareholder in the Business Immigration & Compliance practice and focuses her practice on the EB-5 Immigrant Investor program, with a decade of experience in the industry. She regularly works with developers across a variety of industries, as well as private equity funds on developing new projects that qualify for EB-5 investments. She also counsels foreign nationals on obtaining greencards through individual or Regional Center EB-5 investments, as well as issues related to I-829 Removal of Conditions.
Brodie will serve as a panelist on the “International Differences in Source of Funds” panel. Ali is an associate in the Business Immigration & Compliance practice and focuses on the EB-5 Immigrant Investor Program. She works with clients to develop new projects that qualify for EB-5 investments, as well as having projects adopted by existing Regional Centers or through pooled individual EB-5 petitions. Ali also provides counsel to foreign nationals obtaining permanent residency through individual or Regional Center EB-5 investments, and has prepared and filed I-526 petitions for investors from around the world.
Hermansky will be a moderator for the “EB-5 Securities Compliance & Broker Dealers: Commonly Overlooked Securities Issues” panel. Hermansky is an associate in the Business Immigration & Compliance practice and has a wide-range of experience with the EB-5 Program. Hermansky has prepared and filed many I-526 petitions and I-829 petitions for immigrant investors, both through individual investments and regional center investments. She regularly works with developers across a variety of industries seeking capital for new projects that qualify for EB-5 investments.
