Greenberg Traurig Expands its Mexico City Office with Prominent Team of Lawyers

MEXICO CITY, Mexico  Jan. 16, 2015 – International law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP has enhanced its capabilities in Mexico City with the addition of José Raz Guzmán and Miguel Moisés, who join the firm as shareholders, as well as four associates and four law clerks. Raz Guzmán will serve as Managing Shareholder of the Mexico City office and work closely with the founding shareholders of the Mexico City office.

Rosenbaum, CEO of Greenberg Traurig.  “It was a challenge that has been successfully met by our Mexico City team under the leadership of Luis Rubio Barnetche, who will continue to serve as Chairman of the Mexico City office, and Juan Manuel Gonzalez, a key member of our Global Infrastructure practice, who will continue to lead our award-winning infrastructure practice in Mexico,” he added.  “With the addition of José Raz Guzmán, who is a highly distinguished attorney with a sterling reputation for excellence, client service and legal leadership, we build upon these achievements.”

Raz Guzmán brings to Greenberg Traurig more than 20 years of experience representing lenders and borrowers in a diverse range of financing transactions. He has also garnered active participation in local and cross-border debt and equity securities transactions for issuers and underwriters, as well as in tender offers, buyouts and joint ventures. Raz Guzmán earned his law degree from Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México and his LL.M. from the University of Virginia.

Moisés focuses his practice on banking and finance, mergers and acquisitions and real estate. Before joining Raz Guzmán Abogados, he was senior counsel and compliance officer at GE Capital Real Estate Mexico. Moisés earned his law degree from Escuela Libre de Derecho and his LL.M. from the University of Chicago.

The move will significantly boost the capabilities of the Firm’s Latin American and Iberian Practice Group by enhancing the Firm’s strategy to advise both international and domestic clients with their business interests in Mexico and across the region, the United States and other international markets.

Greenberg Traurig’s Mexico City office has now grown to approximately 60 lawyers and is an integral part of the Firm’s award-winning Latin American and Iberian Practice, offering clients closely integrated legal advice. The new lawyers join a group of multilingual, dual-licensed attorneys at Greenberg Traurig, many of whom have held positions within the Mexican government and its regulatory agencies as well as served as key contributors to national projects in Mexico.

Greenberg Traurig’s Latin American and Iberian Practice recently received the “Corporate/M&A Law Firm of the Year – International Counsel in Latin America” award at the sixth-annual Chambers and Partners Latin America Awards for Excellence ceremony. The Firm also was finalist in the “Law Firm of the Year” award in the Corporate & Finance – Florida-based (International Counsel in Latin America) category.
