TAMPA, Fla. – Nov. 18, 2015 – David B. Weinstein, Managing Shareholder of the Tampa office of international law firm Greenberg Traurig, P.A., has been named to the State Litigation Advisory Committee of the U.S. Chamber Litigation Center, the litigation arm of the U.S. Chamber.
The Litigation Center is a nonprofit affiliate of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce that advocates for the fair treatment of business before courts and regulatory agencies. The State Litigation Advisory Committee focuses on state law issues.
The Litigation Center’s efforts include the following:
- Filing lawsuits challenging regulations and other government actions that harm business interests and job growth.
- Filing amicus curiae briefs in courts across the country and in every level of the judicial system. The Litigation Center’s amicus strategy includes educating courts on the practical implications of legal decisions to the broader business community.
- Hosting moot courts to help advocates prepare for oral arguments before the U.S. Supreme Court and other appellate courts.
- Working with the media to help the public understand the effect of business cases on the economy.
“I am honored to serve and to support the business community as a member of the State Litigation Advisory Committee,” Weinstein said. “This is an opportunity for us to use our judicial system to help ensure that businesses, which provide jobs, support the tax base, and ultimately increase our standard of living, are treated fairly.”
Weinstein, who also serves as Chair of the firm’s Environmental & Toxic Torts Litigation Practice, has an active civil and white-collar litigation practice, with an emphasis on business, environmental, real estate, health care, and other complex matters.
