DALLAS – Nov. 5, 2015 – Peter S. Wahby, a shareholder in the Dallas office of the international law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP, has been appointed to serve as a director for the World Affairs Council of Dallas/Fort Worth. This internationally focused organization brings global awareness and cross-cultural education to the North Texas community by presenting distinguished international leaders to analyze and lecture on worldwide events through year-round programming. Wahby will serve a three-year term, following the service of Greenberg Traurig Dallas Shareholder Jordan W. Cowman, who also completed a three-year term as a representative of the firm.
“We are excited to have community leaders such as Jordan Cowman and now Peter Wahby involved with the World Affairs Council and focused on understanding the impact of international business, politics, and culture on our clients’ businesses,” said Joseph F. Coniglio, managing shareholder of the firm’s Dallas office. “As an international law firm with 38 offices around the globe, it is important for us to have a strong understanding of international affairs so we can offer the best advice possible to our clients in North Texas and abroad.”
The World Affairs Council of Dallas/Fort Worth has been working toward its goal of connecting North Texas with the world since 1951. Today, it serves as a gateway to the world for the region, offering a range of programs and events for the public and its 4,000 members. The Council takes education directly into schools through its International Education Program. Additionally, it coordinates visits to North Texas for delegations and leaders from around the world through the International Visitor Program and the City of Dallas Office of Protocol.
Wahby personally benefited from such an international exchange program when he traveled to Turkey in 2003 with the American Council of Young Political Leaders. Immediately upon his return to Texas, he joined the newly opened Dallas office of Greenberg Traurig – its first location in Texas – and has since built a legal practice devoted to partnering with his clients to develop and implement creative strategies and solutions across a broad range of disputes, including complex business litigation and appeals in venues across the country. With proven judgment, based on his first chair trial experience and clerkship at the Supreme Court of Texas, Wahby works with his clients to assess how to practically achieve their goals while providing excellent, yet cost-controlled legal counsel.
