Greenberg Traurig’s Johnine Barnes to Speak at NELC’s 20th Anniversary Conference

CHICAGO– April 22, 2015 – The international law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP is sponsoring the National Employment Law Council's (NELC) 20th Anniversary Conference. The conference takes place from April 22-24 at the Ritz-Carlton in Chicago, Illinois. Shareholder Johnine P. Barnes will speak at this distinguished yearly forum that continues to provide high-quality programs, designed with input from highly respected thought leaders for their advanced practitioner members.

According to the NELC website, the founding members' formed the organization after a general consensus that there was a need for an entity that would facilitate the "enrichment of the minority bar in the practice of representing management in labor and employment issues."

Barnes, shareholder and chair of the Statutory Compliance and Contracts and Regulatory Practice Group in the firm's Washington, D.C. office and member of the Labor & Employment Practice, will be a panelist on the panel entitled, "Employer Responses to Aggressive EEOC and OFCCP Tactics.” This will be an update on “recent cases, lessons learned, methods for limiting overbroad agency information requests and subpoenas, bringing aged cases to closure, defending adverse impact when millions of applicants are tagged ‘not best qualified,’ and what to expect in conciliation and settlement with the EEOC and OFCCP.”

Barnes focuses her practice on labor and employment law, and devotes her legal practice to litigating and defending administrative claims of harassment; retaliation and discrimination on the basis of age, race, sex and disability; wrongful discharge and breach of contract issues; and client compliance with the American with Disabilities Act, the Family and Medical Leave Act, and other federal and state statutes governing employment. She also represents clients in various federal and international contracting compliance and employment matters, including OFCCP audits and compliance, drafting, and compliance with Affirmative Action Plans and Service Contract disputes.
