New Fla. Regs On Long-Term Health Care Could Spur Suits

In its most recent session, the Florida Legislature implemented sweeping changes in the long-term health care space that attorneys say will increase regulatory pressure on these facilities and possibly open some providers up to more litigation.

Sonya Penley of Greenberg Traurig LLP said the new law also expands the criteria and situations in which assisted living facility employees can assist patients with self administration of medicines, such as helping with sleeping machines for oxygen, assisting with colostomy bags or aiding patients with nebulizers.
