MIAMI – Nov. 11, 2016 – International law firm Greenberg Traurig, P.A. has been recognized as the top Litigation Department of the Year for Labor and Employment by the Daily Business Review. The firm was honored at the fourth annual Litigation Department of the Year Awards ceremony held on Nov. 10 at The Rusty Pelican in Key Biscayne.
Throughout 2015, Greenberg Traurig’s Florida legal team continued its litigation success with a series of high-profile cases that achieved client goals through strategic and tenacious litigation. The firm’s top ranking in the Labor and Employment category recognized the firm’s work around Florida and beyond. Particular recognition was given to the work done by litigation shareholders Hilarie Bass (Miami), David Coulson (Miami) and Todd Wozniak (Atlanta) in the ongoing defense of Stiefel Laboratories, Inc. against allegations that it undervalued employee-held stock and purchased it at a reduced price before going through an acquisition. In the latest victory in the U.S. District Court of Georgia, the court rejected an expansive construction of the fiduciary exception to the privilege following several rounds of heated arguments.
“Once again we have been recognized as one of the most elite litigation firms in Florida by the Daily Business Review,” said Coulson, who serves as co-chair of the Miami Litigation Department. “This award is a true testament to the ability of Greenberg Traurig’s litigators to consistently rise to any challenges while assisting clients in resolving business disputes. The firm has a singular and standout reputation for success.”
In 2015, Greenberg Traurig was selected as the top Litigation Department of the Year in Real Estate by the Daily Business Review. In 2014, Greenberg Traurig’s Tampa office was recognized as the Litigation Department of the Year winner in the real estate category. In 2013, the firm was recognized in South Florida as the first winner of the DBR Litigation Department of the Year in the large-firm category.
Greenberg Traurig’s Litigation Department is comprised of more than 600 litigators in 36 offices throughout the United States and in Latin America, Europe and Asia. The exceptionally broad practice serves both domestic and international clients in the following areas: antitrust and competition, appellate, commercial litigation, class actions, construction, eDiscovery and eRetention, environmental, FCPA and global anti-corruption, fiduciary litigation, financial services, IP litigation, international dispute resolution, labor and employment, media and entertainment, products liability including pharmaceutical and medical device and health care litigation, real estate litigation, securities and shareholder litigation, technology, trial practice, and white collar criminal defense.
