HOUSTON – June 13, 2016 – As part of Greenberg Traurig, LLP’s Women’s Initiative, the women attorneys of the firm’s Houston office, with their female clients and colleagues, recently volunteered at Dress for Success Houston. The group learned about the work that Dress for Success does “beyond the suit,” including preparing women for job interviews, empowering them with critical technical skills, and helping them build a network of successful women so that they can leave the life of poverty behind. Greenberg Traurig women attorneys and clients also learned that one of the largest groups that Dress for Success Houston serves is female military veterans.
After the presentation, the team volunteered to organize inventory for the Dress for Success Summer Sale. The event promoted stronger connections among attorneys, clients, and friends, who together spent the afternoon giving back to other women in need.
Greenberg Traurig’s participation in the Dress for Success Houston event was spearheaded by Houston shareholders Annapoorni Sankaran and Shira R. Yoshor. Both women are very active in community service.
“I’ve been involved with Dress for Success for over a decade, and have witnessed the many ways this organization improves the lives of women,” observed Yoshor.
“Beyond our substantive legal work, service to the community is an important and meaningful way to connect with our clients. We had an excellent time volunteering in an organization which supports women, and look forward to more volunteer opportunities,” said Sankaran.
