TAMPA, Fla. – June 16, 2016 – Michael G. Cooke, an attorney in the Tampa Environmental Practice of international law firm Greenberg Traurig, P.A., has been appointed to the State & Federal Government Administrative Practice Certification Committee of The Florida Bar. Cooke will serve a three-year term beginning July 1, 2016.
As a member of the certification committee, Cooke will help to determine the requirements for certification in the State & Federal Government Administrative practice. In addition, the committee members are involved in reviewing applications for certification and considering challenges to certification examination results. Certification is the highest level of recognition by The Florida Bar of an attorney’s competency and experience within an area of law, as well as an attorney’s commitment to professionalism and ethics in practice. More than 5,010 Florida lawyers are recognized as specialists in one or more of 26 certification areas.
“As a certified specialist in State and Federal Government and Administrative Practice, I welcome this opportunity to further develop the recognition standards for future certified practitioners,” Cooke said.
At Greenberg Traurig, Cooke concentrates his practice in administrative law, including environmental, utility and land use law. He represents industrial, agricultural, banking, government, and developer clients on matters involving clean air, climate change, electric generating facilities, renewable energy, telecommunications, utility plant and transmission line siting, water and wastewater issues.
