PHILADELPHIA – Nov. 28, 2017 –Caleb J. Holmes and David G. Mandelbaum, of global law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP, will participate in the Pennsylvania Bar Institute (PBI) CLE titled, “The Pennsylvania Environmental Rights Amendment: Implications for All Attorneys.” The CLE will take place Dec. 5, Dec. 12, and Dec. 19 in Mechanicsburg, Pittsburgh, and Philadelphia, respectively.
The course will explore new issues raised by the Pennsylvania Supreme Court’s June decision in Pennsylvania Environmental Defense Foundation v. Wolf. Topics include the court’s new view of the Environmental Rights Amendment, who has environmental rights, practical steps to help a municipal or non-environmental agency, and the trust obligation in practice. The presentation is critically important for those working in the real estate, business, and municipal sectors.
Holmes focuses his practice on environmental and commercial litigation. He has a wide range of experience in environmental transaction and regulatory counseling matters. Holmes represents businesses in state and federal courts in environmental and commercial litigation matters. He advises and represents industrial and state clients on environmental issues arising in permitting and compliance activities, as well as business and real estate transactions generally. He represents natural gas exploration and production companies and midstream providers in connection with the development of the Marcellus Shale and other natural gas resources. He attended Vermont Law School and served as law clerk to Hon. Chief Judge Anthony J. Scirica, U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit.
Mandelbaum is co-chair of the firm’s Environmental Practice. His practice generally tends toward environmental litigation as well as handling permit appeals involving assertions of constitutional violations. He has written and spoken on the Environmental Rights Amendment repeatedly. He served as Vice-Chair of the Pennsylvania Statewide Water Resources Committee and as a member of the Delaware Valley Regional Planning Commission. Mandelbaum teaches “Superfund Litigation” and “Oil and Gas Law” in rotation at Temple Law School. He was educated at Harvard University and served as law clerk to Hon. Louis H. Pollak, then-United States District Judge for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania.
