Development of the A7: Greenberg Traurig Germany advises the Federal Ministry of Transport on a procurement procedure

Berlin, March 3, 2017 – Greenberg Traurig Germany advised the Federal Ministry of Transport and digital Infrastructure (BMVI) as well as the Lower Saxon Regional Authority for Road Construction and Transport as contract awarding agency in a pan-European procurement procedure for the PPP project of the development of the A7. The “Via Niedersachsen” consortium was awarded the contract for the stretch between Göttingen and Bockenem. The contract begins on May 1, 2017.

The project is comprised of the construction, operation and maintenance of the approximately 60 kilometer long stretch of highway and also includes the expansion of six lanes on a stretch of approximately 29 kilometers. The duration of the project is 30 years with a volume which will amount to approximately 1 billion euros. The completion of the development is planned for the end of 2020.

Dieter Neumann, Head of the Infrastructure Group says, “We are supporting a total of five PPP highway projects. The development of the A7 is the first project for which the contract was awarded. We are pleased that this procedure could be completed without an application for review.”

Greenberg Traurig Germany advised the contract awarding agency on the drafting of a project contract, including all procurement law questions surrounding the procedure.
