SACRAMENTO – May 8, 2017 – Global law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP’s James M. Nelson will speak at the National Business Institute’s “Troubleshooting HR Legal Nightmares” seminar in Pasadena, May 17. He will lead two sessions that focus on specific HR legal issues, including: “Failure to Comply with Affordable Care Act Requirements” at 1:15 p.m. and “Wellness Programs That Invite Legal Liabilities” at 2 p.m.
Throughout each session, Nelson will give insight on compliance and how employers can address these workplace concerns. First, he will tackle Affordable Care Act premiums and employee cost sharing. He will then pivot to wellness programs and the many conflicts that can arise with discrimination, financial incentives, biometric testing, and how companies can ensure that the programs are truly voluntary.
The seminar will give HR professionals the most up-to-date knowledge of employee classification regulations and medical leave laws. Experienced attorneys will be highlighting the expensive legal mistakes other employers have made so attendees can proactively smooth out any small employment law issues at their own organizations before they escalate into nightmares.
