TALLAHASSEE – August 22, 2017 – Liz Dudek, Director of Health Care Affairs in the Tallahassee office of international law firm Greenberg Traurig, P.A., discussed how technological disruptors are changing the future of healthcare delivery in a presentation entitled “Working Together to Meet Strategic Service Demand…Is a Bed-Free Hospital on the Horizon?”, during the Association of Health Facility Survey Agencies’ Annual Conference in Orlando, Florida.
In the presentation, Dudek noted that these technological advances emphasize prevention and allow patients to receive care inside their homes, rather than in hospitals, which provides better support of patient needs and preferences. The combination of these advances, market pressures, and patient preferences is driving the movement for an increasing amount of medical treatment delivered in non-hospital environments, she said.
Dudek was joined in the presentation by Dave Kistel, Vice President of Facilities & Support Services for Lee Health; Brad Pollitt, Vice President of Facilities for UF Health Shands Hospital; and Laura Stillman, National Healthcare Practice Leader for Flad Architects.
Dudek’s career in Florida’s state government spanned over 40 years across a variety of senior management positions, including Secretary of the Agency for Health Care Administration and Deputy Secretary of Health Quality Assurance. As Secretary, Dudek oversaw one of the largest Medicaid programs in the nation. Under her administration, the Agency successfully implemented the Statewide Medicaid Managed Care program and the establishment of the Care Provider Background Screening Clearinghouse. Dudek has worked extensively with health care facilities, providers and insurers. As a leader in health care regulation and insurance, her distinctive knowledge and experience give her unmatched insight into the needs of clients.
As Director of Healthcare Affairs, Dudek is part of the firm’s state and national Health & FDA Practice Practice, as well as the Government Law & Policy Practice. She helps the firm’s clients navigate the healthcare system, interact with agencies, and better understand legislative affairs and their accompanying issues.
