David W. Oppenheim and Breton H. Permesly to Speak at 2018 International Franchise Expo

NEW YORK – May 30, 2018David W. Oppenheim and Bret H. Permesly, shareholders in the New York office of global law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP, will speak at the 2018 International Franchise Expo, June 1 in New York. The Expo will feature comprehensive educational seminars and panels that will provide advice from industry-leading franchise brands and experts. Greenberg Traurig is also a sponsor of the 2018 Expo.

Oppenheim’s and Permesly’s program, “Establishing a U.S. Franchise System: An Overview of Franchise and Distribution Business and Legal Issues for Franchisors Entering the U.S. Franchise Market,” will focus on the business issues and laws governing franchise and distribution in the United States. The presentation will also discuss how to structure a franchise relationship and the various industry issues domestic and international franchisors must consider before establishing a franchise in the United States.

Oppenheim concentrates his practice on domestic and international franchising, licensing, and distribution matters. He advises both emerging and mature companies with respect to planning, structuring, and implementing national and international franchise, distribution, and licensing programs, including negotiating franchise agreements, ancillary agreements, regulatory compliance, including the preparation of franchise disclosure documents, and securing registration of franchise offerings in the United States and abroad.

Permesly represents existing franchise industry leaders as well as cutting edge start-up concepts in a wide range of industries, including food and beverage, fast food and quick service concepts, retail, hospitality, and leisure. His experience includes preparing and negotiating complex franchise, master franchise, distribution, and ancillary agreements, organizing and structuring new and existing franchise systems, establishing and administering national and international franchise compliance programs, and counseling franchisors on a variety of issues, including domestic and international expansion, negotiation, termination, structuring, and complex relationship issues.
