Greenberg Traurig’s Barbara Jones Named a Cryptocurrency, Blockchain and FinTech Trailblazer

LOS ANGELES – Sept. 6, 2018 – Barbara A. Jones, a corporate and securities shareholder in global law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP’s Los Angeles office, was named to the National Law Journal’s inaugural list of Cryptocurrency, Blockchain and FinTech Trailblazers. The list, published in a special September supplement, recognizes lawyers for their leadership on the legal issues surrounding cryptocurrency and blockchain technology.

Jones was recognized for her innovative work as co-chair of Greenberg Traurig’s interdisciplinary Blockchain & Cryptocurrency practice group. She led the formation of the group in order to leverage the firm’s diverse legal experience and centralize and manage its approach to blockchain matters. Jones helped establish Greenberg Traurig’s policy and practice in the emerging blockchain industry sector, guiding in-house training and development, risk management policies and procedures, and practice development. Through her vision and leadership, the group is equipped to anticipate, recognize, and address challenges that clients may face with respect to blockchain development or utilization.

In her practice, Jones has counseled companies in connection with the structuring of coin/token offerings, fund formation, cryptomining operations, and the use of Blockchain-as-a-Service in a variety of industries, including financial services, entertainment, real estate, healthcare/health tech, and retail, among others. She is a frequent speaker at bar association and industry conferences on legal issues relating to blockchain and coin offerings.
