Danielle N. Garno Speaks at Fifth Annual Fashion Law Symposium Hosted by Villanova University Charles Widger School of Law

MIAMI – Jan. 31, 2019 – Danielle N. Garno, a shareholder in the Miami Litigation Practice of global law firm Greenberg Traurig, P.A., will speak Feb. 1 at the Fifth Annual Fashion Law Symposium “Working Together: Understanding the Different Players in the Fashion Game.” Hosted by the Villanova University Charles Widger School of Law, the symposium is sponsored by the Fashion Law Society and the John F. Scarpa Center for Law and Entrepreneurship.

The symposium brings together fashion experts in the law and the industry. This year’s event will include discussions on how founders and leaders of fashion companies interact with both inside and outside counsel to run successful businesses. Other speakers include Maryann Lawrence, Assistant General Counsel at Chanel; and Tiffani McDonough Solomon, Senior Counsel at Louis Vuitton.

At Greenberg Traurig, Garno focuses her practice on issues faced by the fashion community, including startup phase and commercial advice, intellectual property such as trademark and copyright infringement, social media marketing, advertising, and anti-counterfeiting, as well as employment and general business litigation. She also handles complex civil litigation matters with an emphasis on white-collar defense and fraud actions. Her white-collar practice includes defending corporations against federal and state indictments, as well as internal investigations and negotiations with various federal and state agencies.

Garno represents fashion clients of all sizes from start-ups to multi-national, global brands, helping them navigate through legal issues as well counseling them on growing and sustaining a successful brand. She has also tried cases in a variety of areas, obtaining verdicts in favor of her clients.

She is also actively involved in a number of professional and community organizations. Garno is a trustee of the National Young Arts Foundation and also serves as chair of the Beacon Council’s Creative Design Committee. She is currently a member of the board of directors of Fashion Group International of South Florida. Garno also is counsel to Style Saves, a nonprofit that raises funds through fashion-focused events providing underprivileged students with the necessities for back-to-school. She currently serves as an Adjunct Professor at the University of Miami School of Law where she teaches a Fashion Law course.
