Greenberg Traurig’s Carolyn McNiven Elected to Bay Area Council’s Board of Directors

SAN FRANCISCO – Sept. 12, 2019 – Carolyn Fitzhugh McNiven of global law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP has been elected to the Board of Directors of the Bay Area Council. According to its website, The Bay Area Council comprises business, education, and community leaders focused on ensuring the Bay Area is the best place to live and work. Since its founding in 1945, the Council has mobilized business and civic-minded leaders to solve challenging economic, social, and environmental issues in the Bay Area and to develop solutions for the region’s future.

McNiven is a shareholder in Greenberg Traurig’s San Francisco office. Clients bring some of their most serious government enforcement matters to McNiven because she is a strong client advocate, whether the matter is criminal, civil, or both. Her understanding of government decision-making is grounded in her long experience as a federal criminal prosecutor in Chicago, where McNiven handled complex and sensitive white collar investigations including several high-profile prosecutions of sitting state and federal officials and corporate executives.

As a fifth generation Californian, McNiven has been deeply involved in the Bay Area community including by providing much needed pro bono legal services. Her work in this area was recognized by the state Bar, which awarded her the State Bar of California’s prestigious Wiley W. Manuel Certificate for Pro Bono Legal Services. McNiven is also an executive committee member of the Women’s White Collar Defense Association (WWCDA) and a member of the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers (NACDL), the American Health Lawyers Association (AHLA), the Health Care Compliance Association (HCCA), and the American Bar Association (ABA)’s Criminal Justice and Health Law Sections. She has been recognized by Euromoney as one of the “World’s Leading Women in Business Law.”
