Greenberg Traurig Continues Growth in California, adds IP Litigator Xavier Marc Brandwajn in Silicon Valley

SILICON VALLEY – May 22, 2019 – Global law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP continued its strategic expansion in California with the addition of intellectual property litigator Xavier Marc Brandwajn to the Silicon Valley office. Brandwajn represents Silicon Valley and international clients in high-stakes patent disputes and other intellectual property matters in federal and state courts, before the International Trade Commission (ITC), and in arbitration. He joins the firm from Alston & Bird, where he was a partner.

“We are excited to have Xavier join our robust intellectual property litigation practice,” said Ian C. In the past year, Greenberg Traurig has significantly expanded its Intellectual Property & Technology and general Litigation practices in California. In Silicon Valley, patent litigator Scott Oliver joined from Orrick, and patent prosecutor Andrew B. Schwaab from Knobbe Martens. The San Francisco office added employment litigator Charles O. Thompson, formerly Polsinelli’s San Francisco managing partner; and Squire Patton Boggs privacy lawyer Gretchen A. Ramos. The Sacramento office added of counsel Todd A. Simonetti and former Fox Entertainment in-house lawyer Elizabeth Valentina.

“We continue to grow our footprint in the state and strategically deliver the level of experience and quality that our clients have come to expect from Greenberg Traurig,” noted Silicon Valley co-managing shareholders Michelle Ferreira and William J. Goines in a joint statement. “We are certain that Xavier will add to our team’s significant cabilities to exceed the challenges faced by our broad range of clients.”

Brandwajn has deep experience representing technology companies of many sizes in patent, trade secret, copyright, trademark, and complex commercial disputes, from inception through trial.

In addition to his litigation practice, Brandwajn devises strategies to help address the legal elements of clients’ business and intellectual property needs, from creation and registration through enforcement. He also advises clients on the benefits and practical costs of trade secret protection.

Brandwajn earned his J.D. from University of California, Hastings College of Law; and his B.A. from University of California, Santa Cruz.

“Greenberg Traurig’s position of leadership in intellectual property litigation will benefit my clients immensely,” Brandwajn said. “I am looking forward to working with my colleagues in Silicon Valley and throughout the firm.”
